TSEN, in partnership
with CEFET (TSEN member, East Midlands) and EAPN (with support from
DWP), continued the series of regional events raising awarenes of
EY2010 and exploring ways the European Social Fund could be used
to tackle poverty.
Attended by over 60 participants, the morning enjoyed
presentations from Tamara Flanagan (Chair, TSEN), Jean Lambert (MEP,
Green Party), Katherine Duffy (Chair, Social Policy Task Force),
Espelth Darby (Project Manager, EY2010 DWP Inclusion team), and
Ray Phillips (LVSTC, director).
Jean Lambert, MEP captured the essence of the event:
'Good services and enough to live on provide a baseline from
which people can move forward in dignity. We must take care that
we do not limit that possibility by putting barriers in the way'
In the afternoon particpants met 'DAIN' the Digital
active inclusion network, one of the region's Innovation Transnationality
and Mainstreaming Project (for more information see the link below)
and enjoyed presentations from Maeve McGoldrick (Community
Links UK, campaigns coordinator), Naomi Diamond (Development
Trusts Association), and Laurie Moran (CEFET,
Director)
This was followed by discussions of how the East
Midlands region can contribute to the 3 aims of EY2010: Raising
awareness of Poverty, Increasing Grassroots participation, Lasting
Legacy.
